Ciara Fantom – Producer – Into The Woods & Grease (Burton 2022 & 2023)
I was the producer for Into The Woods and Grease with RicNic Staffordshire in 2022 and 2023. I can with no hesitation say that taking part in RicNic was the most amazing, life changing experience I’ve ever had. I’ve learnt the ins and outs of being a theatre producer and developed skills I never knew I had as well as learning brand new ones.
Having pretty much free reign with the creative process as well as having access to mentoring and guidance from the team has been absolutely incredible, and I know that there’s not many people my age can that can say they’ve produced two full scale musicals in seven months. My experience with RicNic has now led me on to new opportunities and I have actually started my own theatre company in Staffordshire and we’re doing our first production, Six The Musical, in August.
Despite me no longer being involved in a specific RicNic production, the support I’ve received towards my new endeavours has been absolutely invaluable and I’m so, so grateful for them. I will never ever stop thanking RicNic for everything that they’ve done for me. I love this organisation with my whole heart and I hope that I get to continue to work alongside RicNic throughout my career.

Erica Hartley – Writer & Director – Where The Bees Fly (Walsall, June 2023)
My Ricnic journey began in March of 2022 when I was invited to perform as a cast member and new writer for a Musical Theatre Showcase at the MadHatter in Oxford. During this experience I got to be a part of a 5 day research and development project for a new musical titled: ‘werewolves’ which was based on the card game.
Connecting with other young writers and some pioneers of the writing industry was absolutely invaluable and molded my perspective on how to create work and develop into a piece of audience ready theatre. Ricnic took a chance on me again the following year commissioning both myself and my company, Work in Progress Theatre, to stage a full two act musical production I had written over the pandemic. This project was a kick launch to my career as a freelance theatrical creative and changed the lives of many young performers and artists.
