Aimed at offering in-depth support and mentoring, RicNic Commissions provide unique opportunities for you to work with professional mentors, develop your own projects, experience performance opportunities, and receive your first paid work.
Whether you’re an aspiring composer, writer, director, artist, performer, musician, producer, or you’re creative in another way, more, we’d love to work with you.
Our aim is to establish an ongoing programme of new work which is entirely conceived, developed and performed by the next generation of talented creative artists.
21 Voices Cabaret
RicNic are looking for performers and production team members for our upcoming 21 Voices cabaret.
Celebrating RicNic’s 21st Birthday, 21 voices will celebrate 20 voices of influential artists through history, with the 21st voice being a look to the present and future. Featuring music, spoken word, and more, this will be a celebration of all things RicNic. The final cabaret will be staged at The Lamp Arts Centre, Brownhills on Saturday 22nd November.
We’re looking for performers of any age, and for young people aged 16-25 to join the production team for the event, taking on roles in event management, sound and lighting, marketing, stewarding, and more.

New Year Arts Festival – January 2025
A free family festival event produced by 5 young producers over a series of 10 weeks in Walsall.
Where The Bees Fly – March to June 2023
A brand-new musical commissioned by RicNic from a local theatre company, staged in Walsall with local participants and with a wraparound community engagement programme.
Werewolf Research & Development – October 2022
A workshop and in-progress sharing for a brand new musical, written by RicNic Alumni and presented in Oxford.
