Walsall – Join our latest associates cohort and deliver your own music event
This winter, we’re teaming up with The Table Community Café to offer young adults in Walsall a chance to design, run, and deliver their very own music event, while exploring what a creative career could look like along the way.
The Table Community Cafe is based in the heart of Walsall, with a welcoming atmosphere, great coffee, and a regular programme of events from chess clubs to networking, jazz to jigsaws. It’s the perfect place to experiment, create, and bring people together.
Our RicNic Associates programme supports young adults aged 16–25 to develop and deliver their own community projects. This edition is all about music: you’ll work as a group to create a live event in the café. That might be a gig, a workshop, an open mic, or something completely new; the shape of the event is up to you.
You’ll begin with a full training day exploring ideas, building confidence, and developing employability skills. After that, we’ll meet regularly to help you bring your event to life. You’ll get hands‑on experience in:
- Booking performers
- Selling tickets
- Marketing and promotion
- Budgeting
- Running an event on the night
There’ll be some independent work between sessions too, just like in any real creative project.
All sessions take place at The Table Community Café, Walsall.
- 16 October, 10am–2pm — Training Day
- 29 October, 1–3pm
- 12 November, 1–3pm
- 26 November, 1–3pm
- 10 December, 5–10pm — Event Day
We will cover any travel costs to make sure that you can get to and from the sessions, which will take place in Walsall Town Centre. This might be by covering the cost of bus tickets or paying for a taxi for you, or it might include providing lunch during sessions. We’ll discuss this with you when confirming your place.
This project is open to anybody who fits the following criteria:
- Aged 16-25
- Not in current education, full-time employment, or formal training (e.g. school, college, university), or facing other barriers to employment.
- Lives within Walsall or surrounding areas
